The prehistory is the period of human life prior to written documents . Bliss time It is known by vestiges such as instruments, buildings, cave paintings or bones. The term is also used to name the study of that period and the work that deals with the period.

The prehistory , therefore, covers from the appearance of the first human being until the invention of writing (around 3,000 B.C.). Its limits are not exact (the writing did not develop at the same time in all regions of the planet, for example), while some historians argue that the history it must encompass the entire human event and, therefore, there can be no prehistory as it is usually mentioned.

Depending on the continent in question, we find some differences in terms of classifying Prehistory. Thus, for example, in Europe it is established that it is made up of two large groups: the Stone Age and the Metal Age. The latter in turn is divided into Chalcolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age.

In the case of America, on the other hand, this classification is established in four clearly defined stages that would be the Lithic Period, the Archaic Period, the Formative Period and finally the threshold.

However, it is generally considered that Prehistory is made up of three periods:

Paleolithic (2,500,000 years - 6,000 years). The most significant of this time is that the human being used for his tasks carved stones as well as sticks and bones. It was here that the fire was discovered and the fact that man exercised not only as a collector but also as a hunter must also be stressed.

Neolithic (5,000 years ago). It is in this phase when the first settlements appear since the man stops being nomadic. The reason for this to occur is that he discovers what agriculture and livestock are. It is already beginning to polish stones, ceramics and even textile garments.

Age of metals. There are three phases that in turn occurred within this period: Copper Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age, which bear his name based on the material that man was using to a greater extent.

In general, it is often considered that the end of prehistory and the beginning of history is marked by various processes that include habitat modification, the emergence of administrative power, the advancement of socialization and the intensification of commercial exchanges.

The archeology , a specialty that studies societies through its material remains, it is the science which is responsible for the prehistory. It has the support of auxiliary sciences such as anthropology and the ethnography .

Prehistory is also used to name the period in which a particular cultural, scientific, political movement is incubated, etc. ("The 1960s was the prehistory of the Internet") and the period preceding a moment of special significance (“The prehistory of the NBA is found in the mythical ABA matches”).
