The Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) attributes the etymological origin of paper to the Catalan word paper which, in turn, would derive from Latin papyrus. The paper is a thin sheet that is made with vegetable fiber paste .

These fibers, which can come from wood, straw or other sources, are ground, bleached and unleashed in Water . Then a drying and hardening process is carried out using different mechanisms.

The paper was developed by chinese based on the residues of silk, rice or hemp straw and cotton during the 2nd century . Previously, the egyptians they had developed the papyrus from the stem of plants that grew on the banks of the Nile river , while Europeans appealed to scrolls created with tanned skins.

Today there are countless types of paper, which differ in terms of durability (the ability to perform its functions during prolonged use), the stability (to preserve its dimensions despite changes in atmospheric conditions) and the resilience (the power to recover its original form after being deformed). It is even possible to recycle used paper to avoid cutting down trees that involves producing more paper.

Nor should we forget that currently the paper is usually classified also taking into account its format. That means we can talk about the paper A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 or A8.

It is interesting, likewise, to be clear that when classifying any type of paper in a deeper way, another broad series of criteria such as its stiffness, resistance to what would be pressure, weight, weight will be taken into account. degree of whiteness it has, the opacity it presents or its porosity.

To all this we should add the fact that today paper is not only an element that becomes a communication tool but also an essential material for art. Thus, there is the so-called origami, which is responsible for using paper to make all kinds of figures, or there are even sculptors who turn to this material to create their works in an original way.

Of course, we must not forget that paper is used to make money, specifically banknotes, and even to create all kinds of furniture for the home or an office.

It is important to be clear that within the world of interpretation, the term paper is also used, but with another meaning. Specifically, in this case that word is synonymous with character. In this way, it is often said "My actor friend has been given a role as a doctor in the film of one of the most important directors in the country."

In everyday language, the concept of paper is used to name any sheet or piece of paper, either handwritten, printed or blank . For example: "Please, hand me a paper so I write down my phone number", “I ran out of paper and I still have to keep writing”, “I can't find the paper where I wrote down the things we have to buy in the supermarket”.
